Soccer Mom Style: From cheering style to charming neck fashion
Mixing personal style with our new weekend lifestyle.
Growing up, I didn’t see sports in my future. Now as a mum, soccer is literally life in this house. Offset only by singing classes and drama club. It never ends. And I’m okay with that: I’m all in for them following their passions, just like I’m finally following mine and writing here.
So in learning to not only navigate the politics of children’s sports—and wow there are a lot, my friend—I’m slowly honing in on what my soccer mom style is, cheering from the sidelines.
I’m not the parent that yells Go Go Go!!
I do squeal and hide my face whenever there’s a breakaway towards my little Keeper, though.
And I definitely accessorize for the part.
While I might’ve wanted to throw on the sweats for two days straight, three games a day, I instead opted to dress for the job I wanted: His #1 Fan. So this weekend, I spent my birthday on the pitch trying to keep my heart rate in check while smiling my face off in encouragment, sporting my favourite new statement piece by Canadian, female-founded brand Hillberg & Berk. A gift from my best friend’s family, I adorned the chunky charm necklace with all the little pieces that represent my Littlest, keeping him close to my heart while he played his out:
A soccer ball by Hillberg & Berk. That one’s self-explanatory.
Hillberg & Berk’s Moonstone heart for emotional balance. Did it work? I can happily report I didn’t pick a fight, cry, or conversely throw an over-the-top victory party after.
Spanish brand Tous’ signature bear, acquired on our trip to Madrid two years ago, to rep my Little Teddy Bear. Though on the pitch, he’s a bit more Grizzly Bear…
A palm tree in team colours and signifying our shared love of California by another Canadian favourite: Leah Alexandra. Take me back to our favourite place, when we didn’t have games and book reports to do!

He officially played his first shut-out game as Keeper for the “A Team”. Happy Birthday to me! The half of my heart that’s his is just happy he’s proud. Glad my necklace is a little more stylish than hockey hair, because you can bet I’ll now be wearing this particularly charming combo again and again as we launch into a season of weekends spent on the soccer pitch... #GoSports.
